CX NE at Gallagher Park

Sunday 23rd October Barnesbury CC will host the sixth round of the popular CXNE winter cyclo cross series. Run under British Cycling Regulations the Barnesbury will use the regenerated old coal heap located just off Schaulksmuhle Road (closest postcode NE22 7LA), Bedlington.

The first race at 10.30am will see the under 12's battle it out at the top of the hill for 15 minutes on the challenging energy sapping terrain. Ideal for experienced riders to complete beginners and costing only £1 - why not have a go! The only thing you'll lose is your clean clothing and bike! There will be a prize for all riders in this category.

11.00am sees the start of the under 16 event. Using the full senior course on a mix of undulating grassland and country paths this course is designed to ensure there is a worthy winner. Cost for BC members to enter is £5.

The senior race at 12.30pm will see all levels of riders compete for 1hr. Cost for BC members for the senior event is £10 (additional supplement will be required for non BC riders). The off road events are an excellent way to get into racing and train over the winter. Whilst you will be faster on a specific cyclo-cross bike, mountain bikes are more than welcome. Cross is cheap muddy fun, ideal for kids, beginners and uber athletes alike, and even if you get dropped you are still in the thick of it for the duration of the race.

If you are club member the cumulative points total for the BC and TLI series will go towards our club cross trophy to determine the winner. This is your chance to get some points!!!

***Please note there are no changing facilities or toilets within the Park and only limited parking***

Closest public toilet is Tesco car park opposite the entrance to the park, where there is additional ample free parking.
