National Rider Support

The club is keen to support any rider in any discipline that has an aspiration to ride at a National/International Level and will give riders cash to follow their dreams and make the step up from regional/local events to national level. Only 2 offers of support were received by the committee and we supported Jon Morley at the National Downhill Champs at Fort William and Mick Hood in BMX.

At the four Nationals Mick competed in, he finished a very creditable 16th, 18th, 18th and 19th so made the Semi Finals on the occasion when I finished 16th and just missed out on the other 3 occasions. Mick missed generally by 1 or 2 points, a contributory factor to which is usually a couple of similar standard riders perhaps getting a better draw for their heats, however Mick's progress over the last 2 years has been good and he is happy with his form. The ambition is to train harder during the winter months in readiness for the 2017 season which will kick off in March or April.

Mick also finished 31st out of 47 Riders in my age group at the British Championships, making the Quarter Final Stage. He would like to thank the club for the funding he received. He was very apprecciative of the support as it has helped him afford the step up and experience National Event, gaining experience, knowledge and the boosting his confidence that can only be got from competing at that level, even more so with some hard work going forward, has been invaluable.
