Urban Trails at Gallagher Park

Work has started at Gallagher Park, with the first phase of work to transform the park into an "Urban Mountain Bike Centre". The development plan designed by Pete Laing (main designed from Glentress), Ted Liddle and Northumberland CC and aims at giving riders an area to access from their own house!

Supported by The Barnesbury, the first phase includes a skills loop (to the area above the BMX Track) and a red and black downhill route. Stephen McIntosh says "This will help the Barnesbury develop all aspects of cycle sport. The club are leading the way in providing volunteers for the project and inspiring people to get involved. The new trails will be ready for our Muddy Monday series so it would be great to include some of the new facilities in the routes."

The club is looking at other funding streams to develop the next phase of the project which will include the green family route and a dual slalom course. A BMX start gate is also key to developing the BMX interest in the club. If you would like to volunteer or what to know more please check out our website www.barnesbury-cc.co.uk.
